Abstract

Nine crude basement oil samples from White Tiger field of Cuu Long basin (Vietnam) and from several oilfields of Western Siberian basin (Russia) were chosen for this study. The crude oils were fractionated by medium pressure liquid chromatography into saturated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and polar compounds. The saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons were determined by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The results of study suggest that the crude oils from fractured basement and Paleozoic in various regions have similar comparative characteristics of molecular composition of hydrocarbons.
