Abstract
A possibility of the furfural diethyl acetal preparation by direct interaction of the aldehyde and a slight excess of ethanol with high selectivity and preparative yield of 70% was demonstrated. To shift the acetalization equilibrium the water vapour was absorbed by calcium oxide from gas phase. The acetalization process suggested accelerates in the presence of acid catalysts.
