The article substantiates the efficiency of selection of methodological principles for the study of the reception of modern Russian literature by Chinese readers. The author refers to the tradition of comparative literature, receptive aesthetics, analyzes the concept that emerged in the framework of communication theory. The methodological «sieve» allows to consider the reception of the other cultures text taking into account factors (interference, stereotypes) that cause conflicts of interpretations, failures of communication.
