Cation-exchange properties of cobalt compounds with β-hydroxyoxime.

Vladimir Kuzmin, Natalia Gudkova

Abstract

The solvent extraction of cobalt by β-hydroxyoxime (LIX-860N-IC), and also by synthetic reagents such as 2-hydroxybenzophenone oxime and 5-methyl-2-hydroxybenzophenone oxime has been investigated. Cobalt is initially extracted as Co(HOx)2 which subsequently oxidizes to Co(HOx)3. It is established that oxime grous of Co(HOx)3 also show сation-exchange properties (property of the multibasic acid) and extracted as cobalt and others сations of metal with formation of complex Мn+[Co(НOx)3-nOxn].
