The study of structure and properties of nanoporous carbon materials obtained by alkaline thermal activation of lignin of fir wood

Ivan Petrovich Ivanov

Abstract

Synthesis of nanoporous carbon materials (NUMs) from lignin of fir wood in the presence of potassium hydroxide was carried out by varying the carbonization conditions  at 800°С . Using the methods of nitrogen adsorption at 77 K and scanning electron microscopy, the influence of conditions of lignin carbonization on the formation of a porous structure of the NUMs was studied. The obtained samples of NUMs, have specific surface area up to 3157 m2/g, pore volume up to 1.92 cm3/g, have faction of micropores up to 92.2 rel. %, average pore size of 1.88–2.43 nm and have a high sorption capacity for benzene (up to 1.41 g/g).
