Synthesis of 4-(1-adamantyl)-1-naphthol and 4-(1-adamantyl)-1-methoxynaphthalene

Abstract

Adamantylation of 1-napthol and 1-methoxynaphthol in the mixture of phosphoric and glacial acetic acids leads to the formation of 2- and 4-substituted products. Under used reaction conditions formed products are less involved into the further oxidative transformations.
