Myths about the end of the novel and lack of integrity in the "NOVEL" Sorokin.
Abstract
The possibility of applying the category of aesthetic integrity to postmodern novel is illustrated by “Roman” by V.Sorokin. Stylistic eclectics does not impede forming of extremely organized text in “Roman”, development of author’s strategy which is displayed in the creation of the name of the work, selection of material for stylization (classical Russian novel of the 19th century), gradual transition of prosaic rhythm to poetic rhythm. The game that is realized by the author of “Roman” on the level of formal organization of the text promotes creation of the symbolic level of content based on mythological structures that demonstrate ineradicability of literary phenomena. The specific feature of aesthetic integrity of “Roman” by V.Sorokin is the existence of contradictory trends in it that promote both its destruction and its utmost consolidation at the same time. The conclusion of the article: notions of aesthetic integrity and novel can be applied to a postmodern work of art not only as an element of parody but also to reflect real dynamic processes within literature that are characteristic of the contemporary novel.
